Womanhood has been present starting from the creation of Eve up until today and will go on as long as the existence of women. Curious girls, questioning self and surroundings. Asking questions; who am I? What am I doing in this world? Where is my place to exist? The longing feeling of hiraeth which means feeling nostalgic of a place that no longer exists for example to the childhood.Many girls including me had started exploring and were introduced to womanhood by their mother’s closet, coming-of-age movies, older relatives, and gender roles assigned from an early age. The subject has been inspired numerous times throughout history in movies, music, books, poems, and many more therefore after the Industrial Revolution womanhood became the subject of many marketing strategies. I would like to document and research this beautiful and sometimes complicated metamorphosis. Researching the influences these young adults get since the beginning of their existence will lead the project to a deeper meaning to understand their psychology of trying to survive with inner wars, unrealistic beauty standards, patriarchy, fighting for their grounds, fighting with older generations that have the strict mindset of seeing women as secondary. The research will be collecting data from the existence of civilization since womanhood is an experience from the beginning and more close-up focused on our century. The research is for understanding the society we live in and enlightening the many challenges and beauties that these young girls go through.
